Hug the Monkey

In a tragic and cruel experiment in the 1950s, psychology researcher Harry Harlow separated baby monkeys from their mothers and raised them without being touched. They grew up tragically damaged -- unable to offer or accept affection in ways the healthy monkeys could understand. Did this seem surprising in 1958?

Inside each of us, there's a hurt and lonely baby monkey. And we're just waiting -- desperately -- for someone to come and hug the monkey.
